Biodegradable
What does it mean?

The term "biodegradable" is increasingly used and is always associated with a high level of environmental friendliness and sustainability. We also use this term for all our products. But what does "biodegradable" actually mean?

WHAT DOES BIODEGRADABLE MEAN?

When a product is labeled as biodegradable, it means that it can naturally break down through the action of fungi and bacteria. However, the fact that something is biodegradable does not provide information about the time frame or specific conditions required for the degradation. Biodegradability does not necessarily equate to pronounced environmental friendliness. For example, materials like cork or cotton are biodegradable, but would you simply leave them in nature?

BIODEGRADABILITY AND CLEANING PRODUCTS

I want to ask you not to get angry right away, but I'm going to tell you a secret that will bring a lot of clarity. In Europe, all cleaning products must meet strict requirements for biodegradability. In addition, cleaning products contribute to hygiene by ensuring a clean environment and preventing illness or premature wear of materials. Therefore, cleaning products can also be considered sustainable. Now you probably understand why almost every brand in bike, motor, or car maintenance has a line of environmentally friendly products, which happen to be mostly cleaning products. This is also known as "greenwashing," creating a green image while it may be self-evident or sometimes not truly green.

BUT AIROLUBE, YOU CLAIM TO BE BIODEGRADABLE TOO.

That's correct. Our cleaning products, lubricants, protective coatings, assembly pastes, and care products are biodegradable. Our entire product line is biodegradable, which is not always the case. But at Airolube, we go beyond just being biodegradable. Our products are made from plant-based ingredients and by-products from food production that are also biodegradable, which is not always the case. Not every plant-based product is automatically biodegradable, but ours are.

Now that you know the secret of "biodegradable," you can make informed and environmentally conscious choices.
